World of Taube - Art Exhibition

This year marks the 135th anniversary of the beloved multifaceted artist Evert Taube. Discover a unique art exhibition featuring works from his lifetime. The exhibition will consist of several personal pieces - some that have never been shown publicly before.
The artist Evert Taube
Evert Taube was not only a popular folk singer, poet, and author, he was also an artist. The newly launched Taube Week, held for the first time in Gothenburg from 10-15 March 2025, is a collaboration between the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, World of Volvo, the Maritime Museum, and the Taube's World Foundation, aiming to celebrate Evert Taube and his artistry.
Works that have never been exhibited before
The exhibition runs from 10 March to 31 August and features approximately forty artworks signed by Evert Taube, showcasing a wide range of techniques and subjects, including paintings, drawings, and photographs. Evert Taube's granddaughter, Maria Taube, is curating the exhibition, in which visitors can see artworks such as "Najadernas Gränd," "Dans Dolores," and "Pepita dansar" Some of these works have been loaned from private collectors, while others come from the Maritime Museum in Gothenburg and Evert Taube's archive at Gothenburg University Library. Some have never been publicly displayed before and will premiere for the public at World of Volvo. "When I draw, I do it instead of feeling the object with my hand. I draw aimlessly and have no ambition as a draughtsman, only a great need for enjoyment. But while I draw, I become clear about what I should write," writes Evert Taube in the prose "Najadernas Gränd," published in 1954.
119-year-old drawing
The exhibition spans Evert Taube's lifetime, ranging from a drawing of Gothenburg harbour that Evert Taube made at the age of 16 to a series of colour prints with memories from the Pampas, which the Gothenburg icon had printed at the age of 82.
